Troy had to work late last night so I managed the dinner-hour myself. Madelyn has started leaning towards being a little picky towards certain foods, mainly anything that has more than three ingredients or that is too colorful. During supper, I asked her to make a list of ten dinners (had to include at least one vegetable) that could be our menu (start 'em young I say on helping with the grocery list making). Here's her list, copied exactly:
- Cheese quesadillas w/ carrots
- Ham and cheese sandwiches w/ carrots
- Egg casserole w/carrots
- Cereal
- Yogurt and fruit
- Pizza w/ carrots
- Rice and chicken
- Lunch-able - crackers, cheese, pepperoni or lunchmeat
That was as many as she could think of. Dinner should be quite easy for the next eight meals.
We're a quarter of the way through the school year! Week nine of thirty-six. Medieval history is much more interesting to me than the ancient history we studied last year; just personal opinion. God's story of history is indeed an amazing tapestry. I'm learning so much right alongside the girls. Being the flexible, like-new-things-person that I am, I had to reconfigure some lesson plans and we've added some additional things to our day but we're settling nicely into the year.
Amazingly perfect timing -we just finished studying the Mongols, Marco Polo, Genghis and Kubla Khan. Last week, I randomly saw an ad for the local Mongolian grill...if you came to the grill dressed as Genghis Khan you would receive a free lunch. Having a friend alongside, using the same curriculum, is wonderfully convenient; we decided to participate together. Nothing like taking seven children, seven and under to a sit-down restaurant for lunch at 12:30, nearly nap-time. They actually all enjoyed the food (or was it the chopsticks?) and company of friends.
