summer snapshots, #2

Summer journal #2:
Some of our great friends recently moved back to Colorado and are living in Pagosa Springs working for Summit Ministries. Pagosa Springs was somewhere we've been wanting to travel to and with the J family waiting at the destination, it became reality. After planning our trip, we realized that some of our dear friends from church were heading the same direction, the same weekend, as he was preaching at a local church in the area. Made the journey even better : caravanned on the ride down, enjoyed lunch and attended the fair for the rest of the afternoon and evening together. Tiny local fairs are the best! Pie eating contest, boxing matches between local kids, painting horseshoe crafts, animal shows, simple old-fashioned rides, no lines for anything and friendly company to enjoy it with.

Our time with the J's was delightful! We've been friends for several years and this visit was especially fun for the children to play together and for my girls to baby their two little ones. Don't you love the friendships that pick right up where it was left off? When it is obviously much more fun to talk late into the night (and early morning) rather than sleep? We cannot wait for our next opportunity to visit again.

afternoon hike: Daddy, Maddie and Mr. J hiked up the mountain outside of Summit property. Our little girl didn't slow the men down a bit and loved the fun!
