did you use a mirror today?

Don't we all create mirrors that only show what we want to see? We view our reflection and see what we want to see and ignore the rest, turning our face to only see the good side, the attractive part. A true mirror truly reveals. My children are such a mirror. There is no disguising the reflection of a hurt, teary-eyed face that I have caused. My husband is another such mirror. In his eyes I see. The perfect image of my unsightly selfishness. My self. Sometimes I refuse to look. Cover the mirrors, turn away from the reflection, hide in rooms with no mirrors. This reaction to the reflection only perpetuates and protects the sin within.

"Ugliness in me, while I live in illusions, can only grow uglier." - Reliving the Passion

Though my children and my husband are One's tools for revealing my self, it is the reflection that faces me with The One, Christ Jesus, that is the truest disclosure. For only by looking upon His holiness can I honestly asses my sinfulness. And only by honestly assessing my sinfulness, can I fully embrace His love and forgiveness. To the depth of my sin is the depth of His mercy.
