fun@4

Most days, that time of afternoon arrives of everyone awake from naps and me searching for something to fill the long time gap until Daddy gets home. Thus we have fun@4 - something small yet fun to do at 4 in the afternoon. Some days that's a tea party with water and crackers, putting together a puzzle together, blasting music and dancing, dressing baby dolls. . .mostly it's an intentional time for me to engage with the girls in playing.

(Emily is the friend that originally shared this idea with me - if you are a mama with young children, I encourage you to try this and make those hard hours easier. . .and I would love for you to share your fun@4 ideas!)

Yesterday we made Cheerio snack from an old family recipe that my dad used to make us. It's a simple fast snack that my kids love!
Cheerio Snack

(We sometimes double the recipe because it disappears so quickly)
2 c. cheerios
1/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
3-4 drops worcestershire sauce
1/4 c. parmesan cheese

Melt the butter in saucepan or microwave. Add the spices to the butter and pour over the cheerios, mixing it together in a large bowl. Add the cheese until coated. Bake @350 for 10 minutes, stirring once while baking.

Maddie's latest song that is sung throughout the house at all times.

  2. Can't wait to try the recipe, but I don't think I can push off fun@4 that late for my bigger kids. Without naptime, they get hungrier earlier. Can you do fun@3? I know the alliteration isn't there, but . . . Maybe we could call it things@3. LOL!
