Dec. 8

This week we surprised Troy by decorating for Christmas while he was away at work. Madelyn helped me set up a borrowed smaller tree and string some lights. I discovered that I am not the most careful, particular light decorator, especially working with a six year old. But with the lights hung we proceeded to open the other boxes of special nativities, candles and wreaths. We finished the afternoon by cutting out fancy paper snowflakes (that would count as school, right?). I actually found the activity therapeutic and after the five minutes that my girls helped with the craft I sat and trimmed the rest of them. We strung them with thread and carefully placed them in the window. Troy was happily surprised by the clean decorated home he got to come home to and last night we finished together by hanging ornaments on the lit tree.

Now reality is back with the laundry piles, Christmas books scattered throughout the house and the kitchen still waiting to be cleaned from both breakfast and lunch. We did manage to finish school this morning and are on track to finish our second unit of Tapestry in time for Christmas break.
