Someday I'll have my camera near the computer and updating with a few pictures will be simple. Today rambling thoughts will have to suffice as I supervise tracing, coloring and random "artness" from my 3 and 5 year-olds.
We have had a typical January blah-time and are just now trying to get back to finishing workbooks and having some semblance of order to our days. Because of several beautiful days, we've had our fill of the January Colorado sunshine. Maddie received a scooter for her birthday and has learned incredible balance in a short amount of time. She is now confident speeding down large hills and only slowing herself down at the bottom. She is also starting to learn a two-wheeler bike - we took the suggestion of some friends and removed the pedals, lowered the seat and put her on it. The theory is that by gaining appropriate balance it quickly teaches the skill of riding a bike. She loves practicing around the neighborhood.
Charlotte is confidently walking everywhere and has mastered the stairs. She is at that sweet stage of compliance that we all wish would last forever. She can say several words and can sign many as well. It's funny how once they start talking and walking what little people they become! Ella loves to play with her and they get along fabulously when it's just the two of them. (Maybe that has something to do with the absence of the first born taking charge!) They enjoy pretending at the play kitchen and organizing the stuffed animals. Ella makes us laugh with her three-old logic and occasional "blondness". The two older ones rarely stop talking and asking questions teaching me kindness and patience all over again.
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Our church's college and career ministry had free babysitting and we took advantage of an evening to ourselves. We visited Adam's Mountain Cafe for a delicous dinner of Crustini with goat cheese & figs, Harvest Crepes and Salmon Linguine.
Just a note that my friend Emily is offering photo sessions once again. Many of the pictures of my girls that have appeared on this blog are examples of her fantastic work - to see more, check out her blog. For the months of February-April she will be offering a special introductory price of half off the regular session fee - great deal!
