First birthday

Happy first birthday Charlotte! If you want to remember the details of exactly one year ago today when we met our precious girl, here is the story. :) I love remembering that first time I looked into my baby's eyes and learned that she was indeed a baby girl. Charlotte was the only one of our girls that the gender was a secret until her birth...it's an amazing memory that I cherish about her appearance! Having a girl also meant that we chose to use my middle name, Mae, for this baby.
We celebrated tonight with a few family members and her doting sisters. The theme of the night was The Very Hungry Caterpillar from the classic children's book. My dad took lots of pictures and I'll post some when we get them from him. Madelyn was surprised when we woke up this morning and Charlotte still couldn't walk - she somehow got the idea that when a baby turns one, she walks...her comment after discovering that Charlotte really in nowhere near walking was, "0h, she's still our baby then!" Yes, Charlotte is our sweet baby girl that delights and enchants us every day. She has developed such a fun personality and knows her mind! We are so thankful to God for the gift of Charlotte Mae to our lives.
