best of 2007

(I stole this great idea from my friend. :))

Best book of 2007
(I love books too much to just pick one so I did different categories.)

Best Marriage Book:
This book not only offers a biblical diagnosis of marital strife, but prescribes the cure as well--the gospel. When Sinners Say "I Do" provides clarity in conflict, hope in despair, and points the way to a joy-filled, God glorifying marriage.

Best Parenting Book:
Raising Godly Tomatoes encourages parents to keep their young children -- their little 'tomatoes' -- lovingly staked to them, in order to train and apprentice them in a godly way of life that will prepare them for Christ's calling in the future, and render them a pleasure to live with today. Elizabeth is a Christian homeschooling mother of ten children, ages 7 to 27. In these pages you'll find a wealth of common sense and godly wisdom, a guide to applying reasonable discipline, and instructions on how to build a close relationship with your child.

Best Children's Book:
The Jesus Storybook, Every Story Whispers His Name tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. Containing forty-six Bible stories from creation to Revelation with beautiful, rich, and vibrant artwork, it invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures and discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation - and at the center of their story, too.

Best Children's Entertainment/Educational movie:

We love signing time! These 30-minute dvd's teach sign language through music and repetition. Madelyn and Ellie both know many, many signs from these movies and already try to teach Charlotte. Signing Time has other products available at their website and the dvd's and books are also available at the library!

Best music of 2007:
I have to agree with Emily on this one - this is one awesome cd. The music and lyrics calm and minister to my soul. We love to listen to this cd on the way to church.

This new group is special not only because of it's great music and message but because we know one of the band members. Collin (the one in the green shirt) is best friends with my brother and we grew up together playing music. 33Miles is currently touring so check it out and see if they're playing in your town.

Best Moments of 2007:
Welcoming little Charlotte to the world in November was a huge highlight of our year. I was pregnant for the better part of 2007 and I'm glad we have a baby instead for the year 2008. :) I also enjoyed Maddie's year of being three and Ellie's year of being one. The have both changed so much in this past year and it's been a delight to be the mommy to these sweet girls.

Looking forward to most in 2008:
Moving into our new house and making it a home. I'm also excited to start a new Bible study on the book of James. The Lord has great things planned for my marriage, my children and my relationship with Him. Let us exalt His name together for He has done great things!

  2. Great choice of Children's Entertainment. Emily sings the ABC song.. the A is for apple and alligator... lalala.. and does the signs for it. Her favorite song is the theme song! Good luck moving into your new house! Can't wait to see pictures!
