red light, green light

Maddie is a very observant back seat passenger. She knows to go when it's green, stop at the stop sign and point out all motorcyclists who are not wearing helmets. Recently, it's turned from back-seat passenger to back-seat driver. She told me yesterday as I was making a left turn as the light was turning yellow, "mommy, don't turn when it's orange!" (It really had just turned yellow!) I explained that yellow means to clear the intersection. She also got quite instructive when Troy turned right on red. She very calmly told him that it was the law to only go when the light is green. A three-year-old's mind is an amazing thing!
