Troy and I celebrated five years of marriage last Friday. Thanks to my wonderful sister and brother-in-law who watched our girls, we went away for a two night vacation. It was marvelous and much needed rejuvenation time for us. On Thursday night, we arrived at our hotel near Boulder and spent the evening browsing a fun mall and enjoying a blizzard at Dairy Queen. We slept in Friday morning (a luxury rarely afforded to those with small children!) and headed out for our day in Boulder. We walked the outdoor shops, bought some fun specialty items and ate lunch at the Sunflower, a fine organic cuisine restaurant. After tempha burgers, organic pesto chicken, and a glass of iced tea, we meandered our way to the Celestial Tea Factory for a tour. Troy had never been on the free tour before so we sampled lots of tea and saw all the machinery that produces the highest quantity of tea in North America. After heading back to the hotel and resting for the rest of the afternoon we got ready for our outing that evening. Troy found an excellent dinner theater in Boulder and had purchased tickets for the opening night of Sound of Music. The night was incredible! I love live drama and we enjoyed some of the best musical performances I've heard at the theater. We drove back home later Saturday, made a stop for more shopping at the outlets near Castle Rock and picked up our girls later in the afternoon.
The opportunity to talk without interruption, sleep until waking up, and just hang out together like we haven't since before children was grand. Those deep discussions about the plot and storyline of Star Wars and being relaxed enough to laugh the night away was a special time that we're grateful to have been given.
Sounds like so much fun. I am glad you guys could get away for a bit. Happy five years!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations you guys! I am so glad you had such a great time! Any tips on leaving the girls overnight would be greatly appreciated as I am still so nervous about doing so! :)
