alphabet fun

We've been doing "school" almost every day as part of our routine. Maddie and Ellie sit at their little red table. We first have calendar time; learning days of the week, months, seasons, numbers and special events - like counting down the days till we go to Nana's. Then we talk about what letter of the day is. We have been doing one letter of the alphabet a day. We're reviewing all the letter sounds before we start working on our reading book later this summer. We have reached the letter "h" and enjoyed a fun day outside playing Hide-n-Seek and singing If you're Happy and you Know it. Ellie can say all the letter sounds too as we sing our Leapfrog letter sound song.

This is the book we plan on starting with Maddie after we finish the letters. The lessons are very short and concise, but also completely thorough in teaching the material.

  1. Erin, Thanks for the "Heads Up" on the book. I am still using Sonlight Curriculum for the girls but it seemed Sarah needs a little push to go forward with her reading skills.
I just ordered this book on Amazon (thanks) and I can't wait to get it.
We are sending Sarah to pre-k this year for a few hours in the morning, but I still am going to continue to work with both of them.
I will look forward to seeing more of your suggestions on curriculum. :)
