another job update

Thanks for praying! We're still waiting and praying here...Here are the details if you're interested.... :)

His first job choice is with Compassion International. We applied over a month ago and his application is still under review. My bil and a good friend's dad both work there and have put in goood recommendations for him. There is some internal slowness in the company but Troy's been calling and following up with them as much as he can. The job title for this one is Finance Process and Project Manager. (So your prayers can be specific!) He has spoken one time with an HR person but just to clarify some things and to tell him it could be several more weeks.

Just last week he applied for the police academy. This would be his second choice job. He meets the qualifications extremely well - an Air Force officer, worked as Intel anylyst and with the intelligence information related to the war, graduated from the United States Air Force Academy, etc. The only downside to this one is that the next class doesn't start until January 2008. Therefore, he would have to have something temporary, at least part time, to make our savings stretch and take us through to this time next year. The hours can be a little tricky too especially when you're at the bottom of the totem pole!

The others he's applied for are many part time jobs (thinking police academy), some department of defense contract jobs and others related to that kind of work. We haven't heard back from any of those companies yet.

Meanwhile, we're still living with friends. However we did find an apartment (2bdrm, 2baths) for a great price as compared to those in CA! It's not the nicest place but one we could call our own! We're thinking about signing the 6-month lease sometime in the next couple weeks and moving in. That way it gives us until the end of the summer to find a job or know if we should move somewhere else (if he got a job offer elsewhere in the country).
